Stop Living With Your Addiction And Get Your Life Back

Article by Sunset Malibu

If you’re here, reading this, you already know how awful it is to live with addiction. You don’t need to be told that substance abuse strips its victims of their dignity, and leaves them incapable of relating to everything and everyone they’ve ever cared about. You also shouldn’t need to be told that the only real addiction recovery is long-term addiction recovery that starts at an exclusive addiction treatment center. In the end, healing isn’t really healing unless it lasts forever.

Many of the most exclusive alcohol addiction treatment centers in Los Angeles focus on the short-term milestones of the recovery process. This is a mistake. Yes, it’s important that a rehab resident celebrate his first month of sobriety

Drug Rehab Programs and Drug Treatment Centers

With the number of drug rehab programs and drug treatment centers on the market, it can be hard to know where to turn for addiction counseling services. In choosing a drug rehabilitation plan that can work for you, it’s essential to keep in mind that you are a unique individual, and that no substance abuse treatment program can work for you if it doesn’t address you as such. That lesson is an absolutely vital one for drug rehab caregivers and technicians. As no two drug addicts are ever alike, so too are no two addiction cases ever exactly the same…and so too again should no two addiction treatment plans ever chart the selfsame course towards long-term recovery. Successful treatment for drug addiction, in that sense, is that which caters to the personal needs of each and every individual patient. Some addiction counseling programs claim to have discovered a universal cure for drug use and abuse: a catch-all solution that works for every drug addict, and every addiction. Those programs, to put it bluntly, are just flat wrong. Again, you are who you are, and no amount of pretending could ever make it otherwise. To beat drug addiction, you need help from drug treatment experts committed to treating you as a unique being, not as another a product on a drug rehab assembly line. That’s not how recovery works, and the plain fact of the matter is that your future is too important to be pegged to anything less than the most specialized addiction treatment plan from an addiction center, like a Cocaine addiction center for example.Meaningful SobrietySobriety, of course, is the goal of every drug rehab program. From crack rehab to meth rehab, alcohol treatment to marijuana treatment: There is no prize more coveted than getting clean and staying clean. In that sense, the most effective drug treatment plans are those that fight drug addiction over the long haul, with a special emphasis on connecting patients to aftercare programs and independent 12-step support groups. As noted at the outset, addiction recovery never actually “ends.” Drug addiction, like pain killer addiction, in the most fundamental sense, is a perpetual disease, one that never goes all the way away and one of which no addict is ever entirely “cured.” On the contrary, beating drug addiction over any kind long haul means forever choosing to do so: choosing not to use, choosing to stay sober. The fight against drug abuse is never over, is the point, and anyone who believes otherwise has little hope of ever actually winning it.The rub, of course, is that recovery patients need help to make sobriety a permanent thing: as drug addiction never goes all the away, so must addiction treatment never let down its guard. An addict’s time in a primary drug rehab center is the beginning of drug treatment, not the end. Successful substance abuse recovery, when you really get down to it, is that which provides for a continuing care long after residents have checked out of drug treatment facilities. In a practical sense, that continuing care most often takes the form of aftercare programs and 12-step support groups. The former, as their name suggests, provide support to patients after their initial stay at a drug treatment center, with an eye towards helping to facilitate the transition from drug addiction programs to independent sober living. The latter, by comparison, give patients an anchor after they’ve returned to the real world, a point of balance and empathy to which they can return whenever the strain of functional sobriety becomes too great to bear alone. Together, both aftercare programs and 12-step support groups help addicts weather the storm of themselves and the world, and work to ensure that drug recovery once means drug recovery forever. If you’d like more information on this topic, please call 1-800-501-1988, or visit our website at www.cliffsidemalibu.com. In today,,,s fast-changing and fast-paced world, many people acquire different kinds of illnesses that stem from their failure to cope with the changes all around them. Sadly, many people manifest their inability to deal with stress and the pressures of everyday living by falling into the trap of addiction.

Many people who suffer from addiction are those who experience uncontrollable behavior, which is often caused by depression and anxiety. More often than not, these people are unaware of their addiction until it has completely taken control of their lives.

There are various institutions that provide assistance and the much needed attention for people who are trying to find cure for their addiction and depression. Addicts can rely on rehabilitation centers such as Atlanta Addiction Drug Center to give them a holistic recovery approach that will not only allow them to confront their personal painful emotions but also teach them the best ways to manage their own negative thoughts and behaviors.

It is crucial for addicts to learn where their negative thoughts and destructive behavior are coming from. This is where most drug rehabilitation centers differ. Some rehab centers focus mainly on the patients,,, negative behavior and fail to give more attention to what really causes their depression and distorted thinking.

The best treatment is the one that allows the addicts to confront their pain and express their feelings. Atlanta Addiction Drug Center goes a step further by letting the addicts direct their strong feelings toward a more creative approach.

By giving addicts the opportunity to express themselves creatively, Atlanta Addiction Drug Center effectively leads them to the best road to recovery. This holistic approach to addiction recovery teaches addicts to assess their emotions and manage their distress by getting more in touch with their own senses.

There are seven senses that assess information in a person,,,s surroundings, and these send corresponding signals to the brain. When addicts become more aware of their senses (sight, smell, touch, taste, hearing, balance, and internal sensations), they eventually realize that they cannot feel their thoughts. They learn that their depression and negative thoughts are nothing but physical sensations.

By paying close attention to what they sense from their environment, addicts are able to trace the source of their distress. They learn that every time they worry, their thoughts send signals to their brain. It is actually not the thought that they are feeling but their body,,,s reaction to the physical sensations triggered by the thought itself.

This is how it works. When a person begins to worry, he sends a thought that the brain recognizes as a threat. The brain then sends signals to the body protect itself by releasing chemicals such as adrenaline and cortisol. The human body reacts accordingly to the signals sent by the brain, signals which are often triggered by the thoughts of a person who started worrying.

By understanding this, addicts realize the importance of paying closer attention to what they sense from their environment. They learn to control their thoughts better so that they can prevent the possible body reactions that can trigger their anxiety and depression. It is this kind of addiction recovery approach that sets Atlanta Addiction Drug Center apart from the rest because it is where addicts learn to be better connected with their own humanity.

addiction and recovery question by Richard RIGHT: At a private faith-based addiction recovery house, do they watch you urinate when drug tested?
My son will be staying at a place called Faith House, run by a church group for ex-felons and recovering drug addicts and alcoholics. There are 14 guys and a live-in house manager. He said they told him he will be randomly tested for drugs once or twice a week. He wants to know if they will send him to a bathroom for the sample or if they will watch the urine come out of him (I honestly think it’s more because of bladder shyness that he’s worried)
I don’t do drugs, Rosetta. Never even done marijuana. How about you?

addiction and recovery best answer:

Answer by Michael W
I believe it will be at the discretion of the counselor at Faith House. I would suggest that your son will definitely be monitored during the sample, in order to maintain the chain of custody for the sample.

In this revolutionary analysis of addiction, Peele and Brodsky draw on years of research to refute the contention that addictions are biologically based diseases that last a lifetime. Examining addiction within the context of people's lives, they show that addictive behavior is a way of coping with situational stress--and that it can be overcome without medical treatment or 12-step groups.
