Effective Drug rehab and recovery programs in Utah do exist.
Article by Ms. Stephanie Miller
Living in Utah, on its own almost means you have to live to a different set of standards. Someone mentions Utah and the image conjured up is pristine mountains, awesome skiing and of course Salt Lake City. It’s hard to imagine that with all the beauty of Utah comes the reality that real people live there too, people that have addictions to alcohol and drugs. If you are a reading this, it may be you are doing so because you, yourself, are an alcoholic and you are looking to find a drug and alcohol rehab. You may also be looking to find treatment centers for a loved one who in need of drug rehab in Utah . Good for you. The only way to make a change is to take that first step. Now that you have made that step towards your own personal freedom, you need to take the next. And you need to understand it. When a person quits doing something that they were addicted to, they will go through withdrawals. Alcohol withdrawals can be severe, mentally, but especially physically. Finding the right drug and alcohol rehab is important for your recovery.
If you are stopping the use of alcohol and/or other drugs, you need to strongly consider finding a residential drug and alcohol rehab. This will help you through the process of detoxifying your body. Your body will have a hard time adjusting to the missing alcohol and drugs in your body and your brain will have a hard time reconciling the loss of the psychoactive agents in the drugs that you were using. This can take a horrible toll on your body.
Delirium tremens, the DTs, are what happen when you stop drinking. DTs are a serious alcohol-withdrawal syndrome. It mostly occurs in people who stop drinking alcohol following continuous and heavy consumption. DTs cause profound confusion, hallucinations, and severe nervous system over-activity, and it typically begins between 48 and 96 hours after the last drink. Signs and symptoms peak in 4 to 5 days and these symptoms may fluctuate for several weeks after you stop drinking. Although DTs only affects about 5% of people withdrawing from alcohol, the symptoms are severe and can result in death. Without help, the risk of mortality is increased from 5%-10% to as high as 20%. Treatment centers are all over Utah to help you through this very difficult time.
